National "Wear Red Day" Is February 1, 2013
Did you know that this Friday, February 1, 2013, is National “Wear Red” Day?
Every year on February 1st, people all over America wear red to raise awareness about heart disease in women. More women die from heart disease each year than die of all forms of cancer combined! We’ll be wearing red here in the office, and we’ll be posting pictures to the Lauren’s Hope Facebook page on Friday featuring Lauren’s Hope team members wearing red to get the word out! Join us in wearing red this Friday, and upload your pictures to our Facebook page to be entered to win a Good Heart Medical ID Bracelet, free from Lauren’s Hope! Details below!*
Top Risk Factors For Heart Disease in Women:
- High blood pressure
- High blood cholesterol
According to the American Heart Association, having even one risk factor increases the odds that a woman will develop heart disease. With each additional risk factor, the odds increase. So, check out http://goredforwomen.org/wearredday/ and download the resource flyers. Post them around your workplace, and get involved!
