Since I work here at Lauren's Hope, it might seem pretty obvious as to why I'm such an advocate for Medical ID Jewelry, but the reality is, working here has only served to open my eyes as to why most Americans should wear one. Medical ID jewelry isn't just for those with certain medical conditions, drug or food allergies. Medical IDs are also a live-saving tool for caregivers too.
Every day, we talk to dozens of wonderful Lauren's Hope customers who need help engraving their medical alert jewelry. For some, choosing the right medical ID is the hard part because there are just so many fun options! But many of our customers have a hard time fitting all of their pertinent information on their medical ID tags, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by all the options. So today, we're doing a little Engraving 101. Here we go!
What is Rotary Engraving?
Imagine getting a compliment on your Lauren’s Hope bracelet while getting your hair done, only to find out that your stylist is THE Lauren of Lauren’s Hope! That’s just what happened to a Dallas-area woman (right) whose medical alert bracelet caught the eye of her stylist recently, because 25-year-old cosmetologist Lauren Philips can spot a Lauren’s Hope design a mile off. After all, she IS Lauren.
Tell me if this sounds familiar...
When we interview EMTs and other first responders for the Lauren’s Hope blog, it’s usually to get their front-lines perspective on what works best in an emergency when it comes to medical alert jewelry. For instance, a firefighter we interviewed explained that medical condition tattoos are generally quite ineffective because EMTs simply don’t look for them, they’re hard to see in some scenarios, and so many people have tattoos that a medical tattoo simply would not stand out. Others have explained that having your child wear an ICE (In Case of Emergency) ID is a great idea even for kids without medical concerns because kids don’t carry identification cards, and having that ICE information handy enables faster parent and caregiver notifications in an emergency.
