Those of you participating in the Lauren's Hope Health Challenge (which you can still join!) may have noticed that my biggest concern about trying the "Paleo" way of eating for February isn't the lack of bread or chocolate or even milk for my coffee. It's cooking. My "cooking" to date has been a long-standing family joke. I would invite family for holiday meals and they would not-so-subtly ask who was going to be handling the kitchen duties. My mom would come visit and offer to bring in Chinese food for dinner or suggest we all eat out. Until this month's challenge, I had basically mastered the art of taking tofu crumbles out of the freezer, adding some sauce, and microwaving them with some steamed vegetables. It's not my proudest accomplishment.
Earlier this week, I made a big commitment. I decided to adopt a strict Paleo eating plan for one month to try it out, starting on February 1. I decided to share this decision with all of you here on the Lauren’s Hope blog and invite you to join me in making one health-related change for the month of February. It would be fun, I figured, and it would certainly help me stay accountable. So I went about my business, typing up a fun article, putting together some interesting facts and art, and proofreading my work. I had the whole thing all ready to go. And then I scrapped it. I deleted the whole thing.
It's that time again, folks. It's the best day of the week. It's...
Every day, we talk to dozens of wonderful Lauren's Hope customers who need help engraving their medical alert jewelry. For some, choosing the right medical ID is the hard part because there are just so many fun options! But many of our customers have a hard time fitting all of their pertinent information on their medical ID tags, and people are sometimes overwhelmed by all the options. So today, we're doing a little Engraving 101. Here we go!
What is Rotary Engraving?
If you're like the majority of Americans, you've likely made (and maybe even broken) some New Year's Resolutions & Goals for 2014. Eating better is one of the most common resolutions people make. But there's just so much information and so many options out there that choosing a "diet" or deciding what way of eating will not only be better for you but also feasible for you to stick with can be overwhelming. We're not nutritionists here at Lauren's Hope medical ID bracelets, but we've done some leg work to help you get started figuring out your options. Just because it's January 10th doesn't make it too late to set some better eating goals for the new year!
Several years ago, my hair had gotten pretty long. Mid-back, get-caught-between-my-back-and-the-chair, tie-it-in-a-knot, long. It was time for a change, and I figured I would take off a few inches. Then I heard about Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that makes real-hair wigs for children who need them. At the time, Locks of Love required 11 inches of hair in order to make a donation (now only 10"!). So I walked into the salon, sat down, pulled my hair into a ponytail, and gave them thirteen. It was freeing and gratifying. I felt lit up inside at being able to give this gift, and I got a great haircut at the same time.
It's New Year's Eve! Time to celebrate with friends, enjoy a fun evening, and ring in the new year with all the promise it brings. It's also a time to keep safety in mind, in particular through the night of New Year's Eve, with many celebrants up and traveling on the roads late at night. Being that we're all about safety here at Lauren's Hope, in the spirit of a SAFE and happy New Year, we're excited to bring you our...
It's Christmas! And if you're in, oh, say, 80% of the US, you're looking at a couple of days off with plenty of snow on the ground. Recently, on the Lauren's Hope blog, we discussed some ideas for living a safer life in 2014. We discussed the basics: Creating emergency plans and kits, taking care of safety maintenance at home, keeping cars in good repair, writing down and selectively sharing your most pertinent information, and, of course, wearing medical alert jewlery or ICE and Caregiver IDs. So today, in Part 2 of our safety series, we're focusing on those medical IDs and offering some ways to make your medical ID jewelry keep you even safer as you boost your safety factor this coming year.
Rose gold made a big comeback in 2013, appearing in fabulously designed rings, watches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and yes, even medical alert jewelry. Here at Lauren's Hope, we introduced several new rose gold toned medical ID pieces this year, capping it off with our exclusive Rosie cuff. Rosie combines the style and functionality of a stainless steel medical ID cuff with the beauty of rose gold so your medical ID can do its job while still pairing perfectly with your other favorite jewelry pieces.
