Although there are several other months during the year that are dedicated to the awareness of various types of cancer, National Cancer Control Month is a great time to look deeper into ways to prevent cancer and its treatment complications. The goal of National Cancer Control Month is for Americans to lead healthy and productive lives, whether or not they’ve been through cancer.
Since I work here at Lauren's Hope, it might seem pretty obvious as to why I'm such an advocate for Medical ID Jewelry, but the reality is, working here has only served to open my eyes as to why most Americans should wear one. Medical ID jewelry isn't just for those with certain medical conditions, drug or food allergies. Medical IDs are also a live-saving tool for caregivers too.
Heart Health Awareness Month is almost over, and we've really been in the spirit here at Lauren's Hope Medical ID Jewelry! We've been promoting heart health all month long:
The Lauren's Hope Health Challenge is well into its third week, and things are going pretty well around here! There's been quite a bit of recipe-sharing and leftovers-swapping happening, which is a lot of fun! We've also been sharing resources, such as smaller, local meat markets and out-of-the-way health food stores with good prices. It's really great seeing everyone working toward their goals and supporting one another in the process!
Last year, we wrote about the Grant family, one of the few families in the country impacted by LEOPARD Syndrome, also called Noonan Syndrome with Multiple Lentigines (NSwML). So when Lauren’s Hope customer, Tammy Bowers, called to tell us about her newest project, a healthcare app inspired by her son who has LEOPARD Syndrome, we were pretty excited to find out that not only does she know the Grants, she’s actually met them too!
Several years ago, my hair had gotten pretty long. Mid-back, get-caught-between-my-back-and-the-chair, tie-it-in-a-knot, long. It was time for a change, and I figured I would take off a few inches. Then I heard about Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that makes real-hair wigs for children who need them. At the time, Locks of Love required 11 inches of hair in order to make a donation (now only 10"!). So I walked into the salon, sat down, pulled my hair into a ponytail, and gave them thirteen. It was freeing and gratifying. I felt lit up inside at being able to give this gift, and I got a great haircut at the same time.
It's New Year's Eve! Time to celebrate with friends, enjoy a fun evening, and ring in the new year with all the promise it brings. It's also a time to keep safety in mind, in particular through the night of New Year's Eve, with many celebrants up and traveling on the roads late at night. Being that we're all about safety here at Lauren's Hope, in the spirit of a SAFE and happy New Year, we're excited to bring you our...
It's Christmas! And if you're in, oh, say, 80% of the US, you're looking at a couple of days off with plenty of snow on the ground. So, in the spirit of goofing off and spending time with family, today, we offer our Top Five Things To Do When You Hopefully Don't Have To Work And Yet Likely Can't Go Outside Too Much If You Don't Want To Freeze. Recently, on the Lauren's Hope blog, we discussed some ideas for living a safer life in 2014. We discussed the basics: Creating emergency plans and kits, taking care of safety maintenance at home, keeping cars in good repair, writing down and selectively sharing your most pertinent information, and, of course, wearing medical alert jewlery or ICE and Caregiver IDs. So today, in Part 2 of our safety series, we're focusing on those medical IDs and offering some ways to make your medical ID jewelry keep you even safer as you boost your safety factor this coming year.
Rose gold made a big comeback in 2013, appearing in fabulously designed rings, watches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and yes, even medical alert jewelry. Here at Lauren's Hope, we introduced several new rose gold toned medical ID pieces this year, capping it off with our exclusive Rosie cuff. Rosie combines the style and functionality of a stainless steel medical ID cuff with the beauty of rose gold so your medical ID can do its job while still pairing perfectly with your other favorite jewelry pieces.
